אולי יש לזה מראה חמוד, אבל זה בכל זאת RPG מבית היוצר של Dragon Quest, תחכו לחשיפה נורמלית ולא סתם Artwork. Beyond Good & Evil קיבל 9.0 ב-IGN. כל זה טוב ויפה, אבל המשחק נמשך רק 10 שעות. It's easy enough to tally up Beyond Good & Evil's accomplishments in game play, level design, and outright eye candy, and declare it a success. But there's something more here to which all of these technical and design accomplishments are only a means to and end. You see, BG&E is one of those rare games that shines from all points with an unmistakable quality of intelligence and personality. It's in the sharp writing and excellent voice acting. It's in the constantly inventive yet believable world of Hyllis and in the story's intriguing twists and emotional impact. Or in little details, wonderfully presented: Pey'j and Jade leaping into an embrace after a big fight, or Jade's face registering pity and horror with the subtlest change of expression. It's one thing to create a game full of pretty graphics and big action; it's something else to give us a story worth caring about involving characters we believe in.
Ultimately, for all its similarities to Zelda, this is where Beyond Good & Evil finds its own ground. Not only does it avoid many of the frustrations of the games it draws from (and yes, that includes Zelda's flat story and tedious item-chasing), but it is pierced throughout with humor, intelligence, and humanity. While it's over a bit before you'd want it to be, Beyond Good & Evil tells its story with amazing pizzazz and polish. Even better, it's a story well worth telling. -- David Adams Another Take Well, Ubisoft is officially on a roll. BG&E borrows many elements from the Zelda franchise, from a similar control scheme and item system to the way in which combat and even some puzzles unfold. Heck, the title even takes place on land and sea, much like Nintendo's own Wind Waker. But Ubi has also brought a lot of originality to the table, particularly where storyline, style and presentation are concerned. There is a wholly entertaining and satisfying action-adventure to be found here. The GameCube version of BG&E looks fantastic and controls wonderfully. But I do have a couple of minor gripes worth noting. There are occasional loads between worlds -- a downside which breaks from the action and one not present in Wind Waker, by comparison. Also, even though the title runs in letterbox mode it does not also support progressive scan. And that's all I can nit- pick about. Recommended for every GCN owner. -- Matt Casamassina ההוביט קיבל 7.5: The Hobbit is a well-made adventure game that will absolutely provide a good amount of entertainment and satisfaction for those seeking it. But at the same time the title falls a little short thanks to a general lack of polish and overall difficulty.
This game aspires to be the next Zelda in playability and scope and on some levels it succeeds. The presentation, from the slick cut-scenes to the stylized look, excellent voice acting and impressive music score, hits well beyond the mark. The Hobbit successfully merges storyline and game and it both follows the book's premise and occasionally takes some liberties. Meanwhile, the play mechanics, while all-too-traditional if not formulaic, get the job done and there are enough battles, puzzles and fetch quests to keep it all moving along. But control could be tighter. There are some collision detection issues and camera battles to contend with. And the challenge is never daunting or original. Meanwhile, the engine, which usually outputs large, pretty environments, sometimes coughs and framerate drops ensue. Recommended to hardcore Tolkien fans or to younger players after a fun adventure. That said, the game has a long way to go to take on Link in battle. -- Matt Casamassina Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu קיבל 6.5 ונאמר כי הוא משעמם רצח: This is one of the few games I've played where the parts are greater than the whole. I really wanted to love this game. The artwork and animation completely blow me away. I just had to see Sin Tzu in motion. Every time I saw cans swirling in the background or the smoke reacting to Batman's movements I got giddy. It's that pretty. Sound effects are equally and I wouldn't mind having the musical score on CD. The aural and visual presentation is what sucked me into the game and convinced me not to just quit in disgust. Sin Tzu has so much going for it. The story is told well and is worth seeing if you're a Batman fan, but the combat feels stale. I'm not sure how they managed to suck the fun from the title. One of the biggest problems is that you've got all these moves, but none of them are more powerful than the basic combos. The only reason I used the advanced combos was because I couldn't stand watching the same animation performed thousands of times. Lacking that magic spark, Batman is frustrating in its simplicity. Delve into this one if you're a Batman fan, but be prepared for the story to be the most (if not only) motivating play mechanic. הנסיך הפרסי קיבל 9 בגיימספוט: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time can be recommended wholeheartedly. It looks fantastic and features responsive controls, some original play mechanics, a good story, and plenty of thrilling adventure.
